who knew a viewing of pirates of the carribean could be so relaxing? it was so nice to slip into an air conditioned theater and veg out watching the movie, although sara and i swear they cut out about 20mins of the movie when we had a half and hour long intermission. following a nice movie sara and i headed to the train station in chennai and boarded our 24 hour train to the capital of chattisgarh, raipur, 2 hours north of sara's town, dhamtari. the train ride was seriously insane...sara and i have a knack for sitting with families on trains and this time was no exception. we were seated near two small children that decided to scream for about 20 of the 24 hours and i am not kidding. luckily the train is very comfortable and i was able to sleep/play music to tune out the kids for most of the ride. we arrived in raipur at midnight and found a hotel for the night so that we could catch a bus to dhamtari in the morning. this morning we arrived at the compound and were so happy to have a place to settle. sara eats her meals with a host family that lives on the compound next to her hostel and so we went over for a super fantastic lunch. i am talking i had died and gone to heaven, we had rice, chappati, pumpkin, dahl, eggplant, potato, greens and it was just oh so good. sara toured me around the hospital a bit and it was funny to see pictures of many past mennonites on the walls that have served here in dhamtari over the past hundred years. we are now cruising the market in town and then will head back for what i expect to be another fantastic meal! i will spend tomorrow here with sara and then monday morning i will fly to mumbai and then onto cairo to see adam and sarah!!
